Who We Are

About Us

At Lorna’s Place of Care Group Home we provide a safe, structured, and loving environment for men with Autism, Down syndrome, Mental retardation, Epilepsy and Diabetes ages 17 to 65. Our mission is to help each resident gain independence while offering the support they need in their daily lives. From assistance with personal care and medical visits to social activities and life skills training, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both our residents and their families. Whether caregivers are aging, too busy, or need additional support, we are here to provide peace of mind and compassionate care for your loved ones.

Our Services

What We Offer

Assistance with Activities of Daily Living

We provide help with essential daily tasks such as brushing teeth, bathing, toileting, and more.

Medication 
Management

We partner with a pharmacy to ensure all medications are delivered directly to our home and administered on schedule.

03

Grooming 
Assistance

Our residents enjoy monthly visits to the barbershop and nail salon. We also assist with selecting and ironing clothes to ensure they are well-groomed every day.

Annual Vacation 
Trips

We plan exciting trips each year. Past destinations include Mexico, the Bahamas (twice), and Disney World. New York City is our next adventure!

Planned Community 
Activities

Our residents participate in tailored activities such as Special Olympics, community walks, visits to libraries, gaming arcades, bowling alleys, community events, and dinners. Activities are adjusted based on each resident’s abilities and preferences.

Job Search
Assistance

We provide support in helping residents seek employment opportunities to further promote their independence.

Medical 
Visits

We accompany residents to all medical appointments and ensure they receive the best possible care, including specialists when necessary. Follow-up information is provided to parents.

ADT Tours and 
Placement

We attend Adult Day Training (ADT) program tours and are actively involved in the placement process when requested by parents.

IEP 
Meetings

We represent parents at Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, attending them annually to offer support and advocacy for our residents.

Meal 
Preparation

Meals are tailored to each resident’s individual dietary needs, with a focus on balanced nutrition based on personal dietitian recommendations.

Life Skills 
Training

Encouraging independence in decision-making, budgeting, cooking, and personal care.

Caregiver 
Support

Peace of mind for aging or busy caregivers, knowing their loved one is in a safe and loving environment.

13

Companion 
Services 

This service consists of non-medical care, supervision, and socialization activities provided to residents aged 21 years or older. The service provides access to community-based activities.

14

Transportation 
Services 

This service provides transportation to and from the recipient’s home and community-based waiver services.

Notify WSC

The family informs the Waiver Support Coordinator (WSC) about their intention to move their loved one into Lorna’s Place of Care group home.

WSC Informs APD

The WSC contacts the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) regarding the move.

APD Documentation

APD sends necessary documentation to the group home to confirm interest.

Agree on Move-In Date

Both parties agree on a suitable move-in date.

Move-In

New Resident moves into the home.
